Introduction

  • M/s Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Ltd (NUPPL), a joint venture of Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Ltd (Govt. of India Enterprise) and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (Government of Uttar Pradesh) is setting up a Coal based Supercritical Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 1980 MW (3 X 660 MW) at Ghatampur Tehsil in Kanpur Nagar District, Uttar Pradesh with 51:49 equity participation.
  • Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India accorded Environmental Clearance for Ghatampur Thermal Power Project on 17.06.2015.
  • The Government of India (GOI) has accorded sanction for the project on 27.07.2016 and the schedule for completion of the project is 52 months, 58 months and 64 months from the date of GOI sanction for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd unit of 660 MW each respectively.
  • The Government of Uttar Pradesh has accorded sanction for the supply of 80 cusec of water from Western Allahabad Branch Canal (WABC) by saving the water by lining the canal and transfer the same at the downstream near Bidhnu Kasba Village to Ghatampur Thermal Power Station (GTPS) reservoir at site through underground pipes.
  • Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) had signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for availing 75% of the Power from Ghatampur Thermal Power Project (GTPP). UPPCL has accepted to avail balance 25% Power also, for which necessary approval from Ministry of Power, GoI is awaited.
  • Project Construction activities started with “Ground Breaking Ceremony” held on 10.2016 by Hon’ble Minister (IC) for Coal, Power and Renewable energy in the presence of U.P. State Government Ministers and other dignitaries.
  • NUPPL has issued Letter of awards to major packages viz. Steam Generator Package (GA1), Turbine Generator Package (GA2), Balance of Plant Package (GA3) and Railway Siding Work. The package contractors started construction activities since October 2016. All construction activities are under progress and in full swing.
  • The Ministry of Coal (MoC), Govt. of India has allocated Pachwara South Coal Block (PSCB) in the State of Jharkhand, which is having the total coal reserve of about 305 MT. LOA issued by M/s MIPL GCL to M/s Maheshwari Mining Pvt. Ltd. on dated. 03-11-2018 for carrying out the detailed exploration & drilling (10,000 MT), geographical logging, analysis & preparation of geological report as Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) for Pachawara South Coal Block.
